Alternate textShannon Hassell completed her BSc in Ecotourism at Murdoch University in 2011. She then undertook Honours with the School of Environmental Science, the project titled‘Nature based camping experiences in Western Australian national parks’ the study was funded by DEC and TWA and Shannon was awarded the Environmental Science honours scholarship. Shannon has travelled extensively and worked internationally for six years which has inspired her to further understand the phenomena of tourism and dedicate herself towards making tourism more sustainable. Shannon was an active member of Murdoch Student Tourism Association and President for two years and has worked as a volunteer for DEC, The Munda Biddi Foundation and was selected to join a team led by Colin Ingram and FACET to work developing sustainable tourism in a small village in Bali. Shannon’s goal is to undertake a PhD in the future and part of her vision is to see WA position itself as a premier natural and cultural destination, one that people will benefit from visiting.
