FACET’s Annual General Meeting was held at the historic Terrace Hotel in the West End of Perth’s CBD on 27 October 2014.
Members enjoyed the opportunity to network over drinks and delicious canapés in the beautifully appointed Rear Bar of the Terrace.
Members then adjourned to the McAlpine Room for the AGM. FACET Chair, Claire Savage welcomed members and reflected on the organisation’s achievements over the past year.
Highlights of the year included the delivery of another successful conference. Creating Connections – Interpretation Practice, Principles & Tools was held in June 2014 attracting over 100 delegates. Claire acknowledged major sponsor, the City of Swan and staff member Sharon O’Reilly, who provided valuable input into the program and ensured our visit to the region was a rewarding one.
Claire also commented that FACET was pleased to welcome back the City of Perth as a sponsor for a second year. The City is continuing to implement its program of revitalisation, which is reaping rewards, with Perth becoming a vibrant and busy place to be, once again.
Claire acknowledged the FACET Executive, for their tireless dedication and commitment to the organisation. Throughout the year the Board focussed on governance to ensure sustainability into the future.
Claire thanked outgoing board members Peter French for his contribution. Claire also gave special thanks to Colin Ingram, Deputy Chair and Sue Campbell who have both actively served the FACET Executive for many years. Colin has been involved with FACET since the inaugural AGM in 1997 and has played an integral role in making the organisation what it is today. Colin was also responsible for the development of the FACET Golden Guide Award, an initiative we are extremely proud of. Sue has been a key member of the executive providing an invaluable contribution to all aspects of FACET’s operations including being a judge for the FACET Golden Guide Award for many years.
Claire also welcomed new Board members Paula Nelson and Sharon O’Reilly. In closing Claire thanked the FACET Executive, and in particular Pat Barblett and Pauline McMullan for their ongoing support.
A full report of the FACET’s activities is included in the Annual Report.
