Connecting Tourism Industry with Student Internships

WIL-Work-Integrated-Learning

WIL (Work Integrated Learning)

A win win for students, business and education providers.

Just over 50 people, including students, tourism related businesses and the education sector attended FACET’s Forum to hear of the opportunities to engage with student interns to support tourism businesses and related projects.

Presentations included Edith Cowan University, Curtin University and Murdoch University and feedback from two previous students on their work placements within the tourism industry.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) allows business, industry, government and community organisations to work together with universities to develop Australia’s future workplace. WIL provides the opportunity for students to learn to integrate the theory of their discipline with its relevant work practice.

Testimonial:
Congratulations on a very successful event. The ambience and connection between all attendees was fabulous – characteristic of a well organised event with the right balance of structure and informality. It was a pleasure to be invited to attend.
Sonia Ferns, Curtin University

FACET events aim to showcase industry best practice, support connections to share information and grow capacity in the cultural, heritage and nature-based tourism sector. FACET will continue to support ongoing communication between the tourism industry and the university community.
